2006 Saturn Ion Engine Size unknown Two Wheel Drive Automatic 30000 miles

It snowed last night and some freezing rain fell on top of it. This morning I started my car, and without thinking, turned on the wiper blades hoping to clear my windshield. However, the blades made it about halfway across the windshield before coming to a complete stop. So I turned them back off, got out and cleaned off my car, got back in, tried the wiper blades again, and found that they only work on the highest setting. On any lower setting they don't do anything, in fact I can "turn off" my blades by moving them from the highest setting to any lower one. Did I screw up the motor? Or is there something else that I could have broken? Any ideas on what the repair cost for something like this is? Thanks.

It's an ION 2. That old problem went away, but recently the wipers just stopped working completely. I've been told that it's probably a fuse, but I don't have the owner's manual to be able to check. Any thoughts?

You need an inexpensive test light to check the fuses, there is a 10 amp in the interior fuse block and in the underhood fuse block #19 is for the wipers. Use the test light to see if you have power at the motor (purple wire, dk green wire) when wipers are on low. If not it could be the switch or a bad relay (there are 2 for the wipers) if you have power the motor is probably bad
