Sarting Problems

Trying to start the engine results in a click. Owner tapped the starter and it did work but that option doesn't work anymore. Replaced the starter but am still getting the same result. Old starter was tested and found to b weak but operational. Need to know where to go from here.

Have battery tested including load test most places do for free make sure terminal ends are clean and tight.

Had a volt meter on the battery when I tried to start it. It read 12.64V at rest and engaging the starter drew it down to 12.35V. I'm not sure that was a good test but I didn't see a major change under load.

Its ok but if it's not going down to like 10 volts, juice is probably not reaching starter recheck your work

A voltage drop test should be tried, One lead of volt meter on positive battery post and other placed on positive starter post, turn key to start, If voltage drops.3 volts, possible bad connections, either end or bad battery cables, "internal corrosion"

I jumped across the solenoid and did get the starter to operate but the key has no effect. I wondered if the inhibitor relay could be the problem but I don't know it's location or how to properly test it

Try resetting security system see link that may be the problem. relay check included as well.
