When I run my van after about 10 minutes the top hose gets very hot.

Wondering why it's hot after starting. I just changed the radiator out because it was smoking from the top of the radiator even though the temperature gauge on the dash was normal.

The upper radiator hose is supposed to get hot. You should be able to hold onto it, but not comfortably for very long. The lower hose, of you can reach it, will feel cooler. That is because the radiator is giving up its heat to the air blowing through it.
