I'm in the process of removing the rack and pinion but after removing all the mounting bolts, sway bar, and power steering lines, I can't get it out. I've looked at a few videos but can't find one with my specific year. I'm assuming I have to unbolt the motor mounts and jack up the motor a bit to get it out. I'm having a really hard time finding the right bolts to remove and where I should jack up the motor without messing up the oil pan. Any tips or suggestions would be very much appreciated.

Hi,

You are correct. The engine will need to be lifted to remove it. They make nothing easy. LOL Also, when you are doing this, prevent turning the steering wheel. Center it and lock it. Also, you should have the vehicle alignment checked when you finish.

If you look below, I attached the directions from start to finish for replacing the rack and pinion. Take a look through them and let me know if they help or if you have questions.

Take care,

Joe

The directions are very helpful, thank you. But it says to jack up the oil pan to raise the motor but doesn't show the location of the mounting bolts. That's my main issue right now, I can't locate them.

Hi,

No problem. I attached two pics. The first pic shows the mount locations. They are bolted to the frame. In pic 1, only one is shown. I highlighted the mount and where it bolts to the frame. Note: There is another one directly across from it not shown in the pic.

Pic 2, I found online. It shows them with the engine removed.

Let me know if this helps.

Take care,

Joe
