Hi my name is Joel, using the front passenger side controls the power window rolls down and up perfectly fine. So I know all the components are working and it's not a motor or anything like that, using the driver side controls the driver side window goes up and down perfectly fine as well and it's a four-door so both of the back seat windows go up and down perfect, so nothing is wrong with them. The only issue I'm having is with the front passenger power window not rolling up using the driver side controls. Now using the driver side controls I can roll the front passenger side window down perfectly fine, it just will not roll back up using the driver side controls. I did some research and it appeared to me that the most likely cause of this would be the driver side control switch, so I ordered a new driver side control switch and placed it in, but yet I'm still having the same exact issue, all of the other windows are working perfectly fine and the passenger side window rolls down but it does not roll up and this is using the driver side controls. Now I did purchase a cheaper brand for the driver side control switch but I still believe it should have worked because all the other windows work fine, so I'm at a loss on what the problem could be, I know it's nothing major and I know all the components are working fine because using the passenger side controls it goes up and down without a problem, so I know it's not the mechanism that's causing the issue, the only thing I can think of that it might be is maybe a corroded wire somewhere or possibly a fuse, but I don't know if it could be a fuse if the window goes down but not up, but I could be wrong because I don't know that much about it, that's where I'm hoping you might be able to help me with this because I'm at a loss. If you know what it might be or if you have any suggestions then I'm all ears because about now I'm willing to try anything, I'm very frustrated because I was almost 99% certain it was just a bad switch, but now it's driving me crazy because I tried that and it didn't work, so I don't know if maybe I should try a different brand and give it another shot, but I really need an expert's opinion on this. Please help. If at all possible, if you know how to fix this problem or if you have any suggestions please send a video so that way I know exactly what to do, it will be easier for me to fix the problem or diagnosis it if I can see someone else doing the exact same thing, watching someone physically do it is easier to follow that way you know exactly what you have to do. Thank you

Good afternoon,

Do you have a voltmeter to do some checks at the master switch?

I attached a diagram and see if the there is power sent from the switch to the motor.

Hey JFARRELL1,

More than likely the wire that signals front passenger power window up from the drivers switch pack is broken. This wiring runs across to the passenger switch from what I can see.

Most commonly this happens in the door shut inside the rubber boot where the harness is under the most stress. This could be in the drivers front door shut or the passenger front door shut harness.

Check for breaks in the harness's there and let us know what you find.

You can also check for continuity between the two switch pack connectors. I would need to know the specifics of your vehicle 1500,2500 etc, engine size and whether it has power windows to get the specific diagram but the one attached below should be very similar.

Regards, Joe

Hi Joe, I did like you asked and checked both harnesses on the driver and passenger side, if I'm correct what you are talking about is the flexible rubber protector for the wires that run from the driver's side door through the vehicle and the passenger side door through the vehicle and that would be the harness correct? I looked at both of them and they both seem to be in very good shape and completely intact, but I will send you some pictures so you can let me know your professional opinion and then you will be able to tell me what you think. The first two pictures will be of the driver side and the second two will be on the passenger side. Please let me know what your opinion is. And is there any possible way it could possibly be a fuse? Is that even possible?

Hi Roy, I don't have a voltmeter at this present time, but I was thinking about purchasing one just for this particular case, but what I can tell you is that when I do try to roll it up from the driver's side I don't hear the motor working like you would on the other windows, I even turned the lamps on inside of the vehicle cab by the rear view mirror and when I use all the other windows while the lights are on they will dim just a little bit while I'm either rolling the windows up or down and when I try to roll up the passenger side window using the driver side controls I'm not getting the same result, so it leads me to almost believe that I'm not getting any juice when I try to roll it up. I could be wrong but I don't know. Say I did have a voltmeter and I tested those wires from the diagram that you gave me, particularly the wire for the passenger side window that goes up from the master switch on the driver side and let's say that I was getting no juice to it because of a bad connection, a corroded or bad wire, etc. What would be the solution to fixing that issue or where would I even begin to start? Because I don't see a way in being able to replace that wire. So I guess what I'm wondering is what would be your solution to a fix for that problem? Thanks again

Got it.

If you had an issue with the rubber protectors on the harness, there would be no operation or limited operation from the passenger side and not operating at all on the master for the left front. The issue is going to be at the left front door.
