2000 Pontiac Sunfire ignition switch sticking

My ign. Switch has been hanging up it will not turn over my wife can make it work by wiggling the key back and fourth do you think that it is in the key switch or the steering column? If in the switch can it be removed and replaced or lubed I do have mechanical skills but just dont have the knowledge have had the column covers off any tips you can give me will help thanks

This could be caused by several things. First try lubricating the lock cylinder with WD40 and work it in with the key. Also use a new key. If these don't help, your park position switch may be failing which will keep the key stuck in the ignition. If this switch is also tested OK than the lock cylinder itself could very well need replacing.
