What would I expect to pay to have the engine swapped out with an engine from a junkyard? Parts. Hours in labor. Other little hidden costs?

Check out warne motors.I think it is warneengines. Com. There are several things to think about. The price for the used motor + the fix of everything else that may be wrong with it, lets face it, junkyards are just trying to make a buck like everyone else. I purchased one a couple of years ago and I think it was about 800-900 with a 3 year 36000 mile warranty. The installation was almost the same cost. This particular vehicle has to have the motor dropped from underneath, it is very labor intensive. So what we decided was that if we had to have it removed, we put one back in with a warranty. Our shop guaranteed their installation, we have no major troubles as of yet. If you really think about it, you could possible replace an almost entire motor, piece by stinking piece. Hope this helps
