My grand prix has a knocking sound coming from the engine and I can not figure out what it is. Any suggestions of what it may be? And how much it may cost to fix it?

Does knocking increase with engine speed?

Generally a knock that increases with engine speed is a bearing (main/rod).

Change oil and drain into container, use a magnet to search for metal particles, if present, then engine will have to be replaced or new bearings, possible crankshaft/camshaft/rods will need to be replaced.

If you find particles, it would be far cheaper to replace engine with used one from junkyard.
