Engine Cooling problem
1997 Pontiac Grand Prix 6 cyl Front Wheel Drive Automatic

Okay here is the issue. I have a 97 pontiac grand prix, and here recently it's quick to over heat and leak fluids. I can drive it apporximately a mile and then it starts to over heat severely, like one line away from the red zone. Well I took it to a mechanic and they haven't been able to figure out what is going on. Where it's leaking from is under the area of the water pump. Is it just the thrmostat, or is it the water pump, or what? HELP!

You're losing coolant- when there's no coolant left it will overheat big time and cause major repairs -even with a stuck closed thermostat it will not allow coolant to flow therefore it will do the same effects
