I changed the engine coolant temperature sensor, and it still tries to heat up. And when the car is idling it revs up on its own. What could be wrong?

Does the check engine light come on and stay on when you start the engine? If so, most automotive parts stores will scan the vehicle's computer for codes. These codes will start with a pxxxx format (like P0128). If your vehicle has a failure detected by your vehicle's computer this will narrow down what is causing the issue your experiencing.

If I am understanding your question right is your vehicle overheating and at idle the engine is revving on its own?

Yes, you are correct and I thought changing the engine temperature sensor would help, but it has not.
