I have been having trouble with my transmission for a while and now it has got worst. Here is a Timeline of my problems.
About 9 months ago the car started making a noice like something was dragging the ground under the car but nothing was. The sound would last about 5 seconds and happen maybe once or twice a week. And then about a month after that the Speedometer needle would jump back and forth only when I was pressing the gas, then I let off the gas the needle returns to the speed I'm going. While this is happening, the transmission is jumping in and out of gear. Now yesterday the car started making a whining sound, kid of like the sound that a car makes when you are backing up. And this morning I was sitting at a stop sign and It was my turn to go, the car when not go. I tryed every gear and it would not go. So I turned the car off for about 1 min and then turn it back on and tryed again and the car went just like before with the whining sound and the speedometer jumping and transmission jumping. Please help with this problem.

Thanks!

All you can really do is check the fluid level in the trans, inspect the cable connection to the trans, making sure it is secure and not loose.

If OK, then you will need to take it to a trans. Shop for a diagnosis.

You are more that likely looking at a rebuilt trans. Or possibly a used one from a junk yard.

You can also change the filter and fluid. If you see any metal particals in the fluid or in the bottom of the pan that is a sure indication of a rebuild/used trans.
