I'm just trying to find out if my power steering pump is almost shot or if I'm having different problems. When the car is idle its very hard to steer the car. When I idle the car up, it seems to be working fine they told me the pump is bad?

Hello,

It does sound like you might have a faulty power steering pump.
However as with anything you always first want to make sure you got the basics covered.
Check the fluid make sure it is at proper level and it is in good condition.

You might find these articles helpful:

When you replace a pump you will have to take the pulley off of the pump.
Which will require a power steering pulley removal tool. That tool can be found at any of your local part store as a loaner.

I have attached the power steering replacement guide for your reference.

Please let me know of any questions.

Thank you.
