Engine Mechanical problem
1999 Pontiac Grand Am 4 cyl Front Wheel Drive Automatic

the timing chain assembly was replaced and now the #1 piston has no compression. The problem started out with the engine going dead, after investigating the problem, we found out that the timing chain housing was broken, now the whole assembly has been replaced and there is no compression on the #1 piston. What do I do next?

Hi:
If you are 100% sure the engine has been timed correctly, I would check for a bent valve that is stuck open or a hole on the top of the piston. Those two things are the only things that I can think of that would cause 0 compression.

Let me know what you find.

Joe
