My car shakes all the time. It seems to shake more when I am stopped or have my air conditioner on. I was told it may be my motor mounts but my car hasn't given me any troubles. If nothing is wrong, I don't want to pay to fix it. What is the problem and would it be safe to drive long distances?

You can raise car and use a long pry bar and use it to pry at motor mounts if they have excessive play they would need to be changed.

Is car misfiring or do you have a check engine light?

Have car scanned at some autoparts stores for free. Even though the Check engine light in not on, it will store the code as a history code.

With hood open, have someone rev engine a few times, it engine moves more than 2-3 inches, the motor mounts are probably bad.

It is problematical as to driving the car, in most cases it will not cause severe damage, but can cause the trans case to crack or other problems.
