Engine Performance problem
1995 Pontiac Grand Am 4 cyl Front Wheel Drive Automatic

sometimes it will idle rough when first started, been like that for over a year. The other day I was passing someone, kicked it down and it died, towed it home and a few hours later it started. Drove it the next day, no problem. My wife took it for a short drive and it died again, pulled it home and it started the next day.I've been thinking the fuel pressure regulator was causing the rough idle when first started but could that also be why it would die? Also if I try to rev it up it cuts out real bad but drives fine as long as it doesn't die.

I've been thinking the fuel pressure regulator

Could be if you check the fuel pressure to rule out the regulator and fuel pump-If both are good check the ignition system
