Dear 2carpros

After I had replaced my intake manifold gasket I had 10w30 oil in the car and it never burned oil. But recently I change oil and I put 5w30 in the car and am burning lots of oil. It feels like am losing performance too because the car feels heavy and when I accelerate I hear noise almost like a supercharger. Do you guys think I should put heaver oil and would that stop it from burning oil? What oil do you pros recommend for my engine?

Thank you very much for your help.

If you are anything like my dad it could be a problem haha! If you want your car to run good spend the money to buy good oil, 5w-30 is the recommended oil for the 6cyl pontiac, check to make sure you are adding enough, and make sure you did change the oil filter,
check the oil pin and start you car on a lift and look for leaks, and try cleaning out your fuel injectors, STP sells a thing you put in your gas tank every oil change, those things really do help, ive used them plenty of times.
And if you drive high mileage on your oil get MOBIL 1 High mileage, and your environment of your car also changes it, 5w-30 is recommended but only for certain temperatures read your manual for more info.
