Remote actuates headlight covers

Have a 2000 firebird. When using the remote loclk/unlock buttons on the remote, the headlight doors are actuated. What is causing this to happen?

I have the same problem on my 2001 Firebird, but the door closing is followed by what sounds like gears grinding. Also happens when I turn headlights off. Did you find an answer? I plan to take mine to the dealer if I can't find help.
