Engine problem
2000 Pontiac Firebird 6 cyl Wheel Drive Type unknown Automatic 103000 miles

I was driving in the rain and went through some pretty deep puddles when I lost my steering. My 'check gages' light turned on so I thought I was out of. Something. Looked under the hood and realized the belt had come off. Why did this happen? Did the weather or my having low oil have anything to do with it, or do these things just happen? Managed to get it back on BUT can it happen again and do I need to replace somethnig?

Check the belt tentioner, possibly going weak. But mostlikely just got too wet and slipped off funny as it sounds but can happen. If its doing fine now dont worry bout it but doesnt hurt to chek the tentioner feel if its to easy to move. Good luck
