Engine Performance problem
1991 Pontiac Firebird V8 Two Wheel Drive Automatic 106K miles

i recently did a tune up on my 91' firebird 305 tbi. I decided to reset the base timing. The base timing was 6 deg. Btdc. I've had pinging probs before but this time I thought it was alright. The engine would not stop pinging until base timing was about 1 degree btdc! Now i'm dealing with a serious lack of power. I also noticed that after I reconnected the EST and checked timing again, it was so far adv. It was about an inch and a half away from the marker plate. I checked for vacuum leaks, I have recently replaced the dist and ICM, I dont have any lean mix issues that I know of. Any suggestions?

Nevermind. I thought my egr was working because I replaced it less than 2 years ago. I guess u just can't trust aftermarket parts anymore. I'm getting a new oem egr tommorow that should fix the pinging issue so I dont have to drive like an old man anymore lol.
