Engine Performance problem
2000 Plymouth Neon 4 cyl Front Wheel Drive Automatic 163 k miles

My car jumped time and it bent valves and I replaced all and got new gaskets and had head re done. The cameshaft was scratched so we replaced it too. We got everything back together and took it a mile or two down the road and the engine light came on I pulled over and turned car off and checked computer it read 340 camshaft sensor. The car would not start after that. I replaced the sensor and now it will NOT fire on cyclinder 1 and 4. What might this be?

Double check the dowel pin between the camshaft and sprocket. It's common for them to shear off, then the sprocket slips a little. When it appears to the cam sensor that the cam is retarded by one tooth, the "Check Engine" light comes on. Two teeth and the computer shuts the engine down. Three teeth and valves hit the pistons.
