1961 Plymouth Belvedere Oil gauge leak in 1955 Plymouth

Interior problem
1961 Plymouth Belvedere V8 Two Wheel Drive Automatic

I have a 1955 Plymouth Belvedere that leaks oil from the oil gauge in the dash. I've replaced the hose running from the gauge to the block, also the gauge. Tightened everything and I get a steady drip from the fitting on the hose. Is there supposed to be oil in the line? Driving me crazy!

They do have oil in that line, and a ferrule on the line when tightened at the gauge is supposed to keep it from leaking. You could change gauge types, buy a sending unit for electric gauge, and install an electric gauge, attach the wire(s) from the sender to the new gauge. Or maybe it's been over-tightened, and cut into the plastic line.
