I'm trying to replace the parking brake cable. I cannot find instructions on how to disconnect the line from behind the dust shield. Can someone point me towards some pictures or videos to describe the process?
I've included some pics to show what I mean
the first picture is of the damaged parking cable. Rust was the issue and it's completely severed. Second picture is the part that's giving me the trouble. How do you disconnect the parking cable from that spot in order to replace the cable?

Hi Steelerdynasty,

Just so I am clear, that is the part of the cable that goes through the backing plate at the rear wheel and connects to the parking brake hardware and shoes?

If so, have you removed the rotor and disconnected it from the hardware/actuator so that the cable itself is not connected? If so, that should just be a rubber grommet that will pull out.

Here are the instructions for this portion. It simply says to disengage it from the actuator and then remove it from the vehicle. Clearly it is easier said, but if you have not unhooked it from the actuator then it will not come out.

If this is not the area you are working on, please let me know. Maybe get a short video showing exactly where you are and what you are trying to do and I can better assist.

Thank you for using 2CarPros.
