I have the vehicle listed above it idles a little rough to bad. The engine light is blinking. When I get 2 second gear it starts blinking and going rough. I changed the spark plug it was really bad reset the code came back on. The coil looked great like nothing wrong with it at all. I keep thinking the catalytic converter bad, I was going to go to pull a part and get one tomorrow. I just need to know. I bought a ob2 scanner for it. A new plug. My other car blew a head gasket. I'm $13,000.00 in debt between these 2 cars and I am just trying to get to work and desperate for help.

Anything you can do to help. It'll cost me $200.00 to $300.00 for converter alone and I can't afford a shop. I just don't know what to do. Thank you.

Hello,

Do not install the new catalytic converter. This is not the problem. If you had a plugged catalytic converter it would effect the whole engine, low power, and the engine would overheat as the exhaust would be plugged and choke out the entire engine. So, you have a class A [defined as a catalyst damaging misfire] misfire in cylinder #2. An engine, or in this case, a cylinder needs only three things to fire, compression, fuel, and spark [delivered at the proper time]. You have replaced the spark plug and the coil is good so that takes care of the spark. So let's start by making sure you have good compression in #2 cylinder. Here is a link below explaining how to do a compression test:

Please go through this guide and get back to us with what you find out. We will be able to go from there.

Thanks,
Alex
