Rough Idle and loss of power

I have a 1995 Olds Aurora with 100700 miles on it, It has the 4.0 V8 engine. I have owned the car for about a month and love it. However ive noticed lately that when I try to accelerate hard, like to pass or pull out in traffic. The car almost dies. It will pause then try to accelerate, but It just sputters. After it does this it will run badly untill its turned off. The RPM meter will bounce around even when the car is parked, Ive seen it go from 1 to 3 On the RPM meter for no real reason. This without the AC or anything on. It does not seem to have a tranny proble as it shifts smooth as can be. Ive changed gas and used injector cleaners. I am at a loss as to what could be wrong. Any help is GREATLY accepted. Thanks TJ

Sounds like a VSS(vehicle speed sensorz0 but is the check engine light on? If yes get the code(s) retieved!

No the check engin light is not on. Nor does the onoard diagnostic computer say that anything is wrong.

It also could be your (MAF) Mass Air Flow senor. I have that problem before.
