I have a 2000 Alero GLS which has been overheating and I have been smelling a type of radiator fluid/gas smell. I looked at the oil cap and it had a yellowish milky crud on the inside. This is indicative of a blown head gasket. After looking on the web, which type of head gasket do I need? They have cylinder head gaskets for like $10.00 and they have some that are $140.00 and up. I'm not sure which one I need. Please help! Thx

You appear to be exactly correct. If you would like to confirm it further here is a guide that will help with this.

I am attaching the info from the manual that will help with the correct part number as well. This is the OEM gasket and what I would recommend using.

This is on the lower end of cost as you do not need to go with the most expense head gasket in this case. I would, however, stick with the OEM and not use a cheaper product.

Please let us know what other info you need. Thanks
