L just got this SUV last sat (8.19.17).

The check engine light randomly comes on, goes off when you shut it off. Start it go drive anywhere from three to forty five miles then it pops back on. It drives and shifts normal, all gauges are reading right.

So, I tried my scanner to get a lead on where the issue is hiding and it would not connect to the SUV, it told me there was an error. So thinking it was maybe my scanner we took it to AutoZone and theirs just read an error message as well.

How many wires are suspose to go to the back of the OBDII port?

I have checked both fuses associated with the cigarette lighter and the OBDII system they are fine. All the grounds have good connections, battery is good.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. TIA

It sounds like you have a fuse out number five 10 amp.

Here is a guide and a wiring and fuse diagram to help you get the job done:
