When driving up to a summit the vehicle lost power going uphill and a hissing sound started from the engine when trying to accelerate. The check engine light came on. After pulling over and checking the engine, I noticed this part that looks fried and have no idea what it is. I was able to make it home, but it continued to hiss and lag when accelerating. I recently had 2 ignition coils replaced. Any help would be appreciated.

Yep, that is the EGR Pressure Feedback (DPFE) Sensor which will need to be replaced the hissing sound you are hearing and the reason for the low engine power is the catalytic converter has fallen apart and needs to be replaced here is instructions on how to replace both the sensor and the catalytic converter. Check out the images (below). Please let us know if you need anything else to get the problem fixed. Thanks for the images they helped.
