I bought a car a week ago. When I went to smog it, the mechanic said it failed because check engine light wasn't illuminating before starting the engine. So I investigated and found the bulb missing! After replacing it, it wont turn off. So i'm figuring its either an o2 sensor or air intake sensor? I dont know how many exhaust sensors there are. Is there a way to test them myself without a code reader; can I clean the air intake sensor with anything to help? The only symptom I recognize is a low idle drop momentarily upon stopping or sometimes when switching into drive from park or reverse. Any advise would be appreciated, thanx!

Hi there,

best not to second guess these things, go get a code read and also have them removed. See what codes re set if any, the previous owner has removed the globe because he / she could not or did not want to fix what ever fault is setting the light.
