1995 Other Nissan Models Engine Size unknown Front Wheel Drive Automatic 170000 miles

My car is 95' Nissan Lucino JJ auto 1.6 which is imported from Japan. Couple weeks ago, the car just can not start. I totally have no idea with cars and ask someone to help me. The car finally run when the person hold the accelarator for couple mintues while he started it. But after that, my car will sometimes stop running during my drive. I do not know what may be the main problem and how could I briefly check it by myself?

Have the fuel pressure check-Nissan's on this year the fuel pump is not that reliable they go quick especially the Sentras. My experiences-get it checked and comeback with the readings with and without the pressure regulator.
