Engine Mechanical problem
2001 Nissan Maxima Automatic 65000 miles

hi I have a 2001 nissan maxima that wouldn't start even though I got the battery charged/jumpstarted by AAA- I took it to a mechanic who told me it was the starter-he said it would cost $388 to replace the starter(minus labor)- everyone I spoke to told me that is entirely too much money-do you know how much it might cost if I brought it myself-also is there any quick fixes I could try to get the starter going so I can maybe drive to boston(this is where I'm from but right now I am 2 hours away because i'm at school) to drop it off at a mechanic that would charge me $200. Thank you so much.

I looked up your part, they run from 140.00 to 203.00 so that price is not unreasonable...
