2000 Nissan Maxima Front Wheel Drive 160, 00 miles

My Maxima has developed a problem and will sometimes go into neutral when shifting into second gear after leaving a stoplight. I will have to pull over and shut the car off, retart it and then it will usually work fine. When the problem occurs there are no gears that work, not even reverse. Sometimes it will do it 2 or 3 times. It seems to happen only when the outside temp is over 85 deg and it has been driven at least 20 minutes or more. I have changed the fluid and filter to no avail. The tranny does not slip and the shifs are crisp. Someone mentioned that it may be the transmission computer?

My car has started to do the exact same thing under the very same circumstances. Has anyone responded or have you figured a solution?

I also have the same problem please someone have any idea what could be?

I heard that it could be the revolution sensor but I have to check that out.

If you have any new info please reply!

Our 2003 Maxima SE has the exact same problem. From what I have read it seems that the TCM might be to blame. Also, there are solenoid packs that might be the culprit. I don't know for sure what is causing it. I found a TSB NTB00-093A, but I don't think it pretains to my year. I would really like to find out what the problem is to avoid damaging the transmission. I did notice that around the time that this problem acts up, the cruise control will not engage even if the transmission is shifting normal. Like right after it acted up. The light just flashes. The rest of the time it works fine.
