1998 Nissan Maxima alternator belt

1998 Nissan Maxima 6 cyl Front Wheel Drive Automatic

great site guys, took my max in for oil change and they recommended changing alternator belt. They also asked for $120.

can the average guy do this at home?

Yeah. When you see the tensioner pulley there will be a nut on the center of it. Loosen the nut, don't take it off. Then you will see the adjustment rod on top of the tensioner pulley. Loosen it until the belt has enough slack on it to take it off. Reverse procedure to put it back on. If you want pictures just reply to the post. HTH.

Think you should be if you have some mechanical skills. The belt adjusters on engine loosen center bolt on pully first then crank down on adjuster bolt.

Looked at the location, pretty tight. Can I do it without a lift or jack stands?
