So, my air intake box has a hose that comes off it with a canister type thing on it. The clip that holds those hoses to the box. What's that called so I can order it? Thanks

I'll add picture when not riding in the car, lol.

Hello,

This looks like the PCV valve tube and looks broken. This happens quite frequently with the constant heating/cooling of the plastic pieces, and eventually they snap off. I see the rest of the plastic is still inside the rubber portion of the hose. Looks like the AC Delco part # is 12655730. Please check this and let me know if this looks exactly as the hose you have before ordering.

Let us know,
William

No that's not the completely wrong part all together not even the attached to air filter box. I don't need to replace a hose it's a weird little clip thing. I'll draw a pic, I guess. Also, I'll take a farther away pic because that's not close. Thanks though. There are 2 holes in the air filter box, one that goes to the engine and a small one about 1.5" in diameter has a 4-5 " hose with a big canister on it.

Hi,

That is the secondary air pump inlet connection. That is a quick connection. To the best of my knowledge, it is non-repairable, and the damaged portion needs to be replaced.

Take a look at the picture below and let us know if that appears to be the hose you are referring to. If so, I suspect the air filter box is what failed and will need to be replaced.

Let us know.

Joe

Bingo! So, there is a circle clamp that holds that on then the weird piece that connects the hose and goes around box nipple so circle clamp can hold securely. Are you saying that the whole filter box and that weird intake thing is one piece? If so that is stupid since to do anything over that side you have to remove the box.

Hi,

In your pic, the hose connector is the faulty part. Take a look at the pics below. Note that the connector has the retainer portion still connected to it. The connector portion on yours is broken and still on the air filter box. In this case, the hose needs replaced or if you want to try, you can find a short piece of steel pipe or even PCV that fits snuggly into the pipe. As long as the pipe you find is strong, you can push it into the air box opening and use a clamp to seal it at the hose and at the box. Or go to a salvage yard, cut that section off a vehicle, and splice it to the hose portion on your vehicle. If you do find a good used one, take the entire assembly.

Other than that, you will need to purchase the secondary air injection inlet hose which is an assembly. The OEM part number is 22759748. If you google search GM part number 22759748, you will find the new assembly. What you will also find is the part is discontinued. You may get lucky by checking places like Ebay or Amazon.

Note: The pics I attached are general pics just so you can see the design. However, they should be the same as you have or extremely similar. Pic 3 shows the actual part.

Let me know your thoughts or if you have other questions.

Take care,

Joe

Okay, so, your first pic the circle thing your red lines end at is what broke. Mine doesn't and didn't have the molded circle clamp just the ring that another circle clamp used to connect to sir box. The second pic isn't right there is no 90° angle by the connector. The third pic with gm part # and pic raises a question. Is the filter thing on the end of the hose coming out of the air box supposed to have a hose coming out of it that connects to something? If so, where does that connect? Thanks again, so glad you caught this post.

Hi,

In pic 1, I was trying to draw lines showing the part that is broken on yours. Pic 2 is a general pic and not specific to your vehicle, but I felt it provided a good view of the connector and I wanted you to see it was clamped together from the factory.

The third pic is what you need. It goes from the air box to the air pump. If you look at the pic below, it shows where it connects. The connectors on both ends are the same.

Let me know if this helps.

Take care,

Joie

See pic below. To get good access to the lower portion of the hose, you may have to remove a plastic shield below the radiator.

Okay, that makes sense. I bought this car used from someone who didn't understand or care about his car. That said the whole bottom hose doesn't exist on my car currently. So that might help a bit thanks so much.

So, if I get a piece of pipe that fits snug inside both parts and clamp.
Also, both my cars ford 500 and this Impala ever since the last break and caliper change when turn wheels when moving forward or backwards get a loud PING from the tire inside you are turning. If you turn right the right wheel area pings. Thanks

Quick question, if I take my car to a mechanic for a free estimate for repairs do they usually run diagnostics? I want to see what pops without paying for it, lol. Thanks

Hi,

That is really determined by the individual shop. Some may do it. However, I don't think they will need tools to find that one. They should be able to hear and locate it.

Yes, to the repair. As long as there isn't an air leak, you will be fine.

Let me know.

Hi,

No problem whatsoever. I'm not 100% sure what you are referring to. A ping in an engine often is caused by timing, poor fuel, or a faulty knock sensor.

If that is a different issue, I have to ask a favor. I need you to start a new thread with the different vehicles and problems. We try to keep the posts specific to one topic, so they are more helpful to others. I hope you understand.

Here is the link to start a new question/post:

I hope you understand.
