Tries to crank and does not start

My car ran hot until it shut off. I do not know what to do. It was not turning over at all. I changed the oil and added liquid gas now it turns over but will not crank. It sounds like it is out of gas, but I know it is not that.

Hello,

If the engine got to hot then you might have damaged the piston rings, here is a test to help you find out if this is the problem.if you do not have a gauge you can rent one for the parts store for free.
