Hello,

Those engines are not interchangeable. They use completely different drivetrain setup.
For a swap of this kind, only option is to swap both engine and transmission as well as all the computers out of the donor vehicle.
Even then you will have to modify the motor mounts for everything to fit correctly.
It will be a quite complex job, but possible.

Let me know of any questions.
Thank you.

If you can swap all the components than it could be a viable option. I am assuming you got a donor car?

Got it. That is good that you have a donor you can take out all those components. Let me know if you need any instruction on motor replacement.

Yes, I got another 4 cylinder for it but that motor sold to me was shot and I'm getting my refund. I still have my 04 Gallant ls 3.8l. Can you tell me everything needed to be done to swap them?

The best option would be to replace the engine with another 2.4L engine. But is you really want to put the 3.8L v6 in it, then you will have to pretty much take out all the components from the donor car. Including the engine, transmission, all the mounts, all the computers etc. And install all those components to the other car. You will also have to take out the exhaust manifolds and the piping as well.
Keep in mind on swap of this type there are always modifications that needs to be done. Which can require modification to the mounts, the exhaust etc.
I have attached engine replacement procedure for bot 2.4L and 3.8L. Keep in mind those instructions are for replacement of the same size engine.

Are you getting any codes? Is the check engine light on?
How is the fluid level and fluid condition?
Did something got disconnected and did not get plugged back in properly?
Unless this issue existed before there should not be a good reason for this issue.
