I have a 1996 Mitsu Eclipse,my check engine light came on, I checked codes two different ways, I done the key off and on 5 times, it was a code 32 open or shorted circuit in EGR solonoid, and I pulled codes with my scan tool it was P0401 EGR insufficient flow, I got a flow chart from Alldata, I checked power and ground, resistance of the solonoid and wires, checked connections/connectors,and checked EGR valve and tube and I cleaned it, after everything tested ok it said to replace the PCM, well I have 4 Eclipse"s, so it didn"t cost me any money, so I replaced it, the code came back, so what else should I do

Hey bb,
Don't ya just love mistsu flow charts?? I hate 'em! To verify your egr ports and tubes are clear, with the engine at idle, carefully (with your finger) push up in the egr diaphragm, the motor should stumble or stall. If thats ok, then jumper wire the ground side of the egr solenoid to ground, again the engine should stumble or stall. This verifies that the solenoid is good, (resistance tests can be misleading) let me know, there are some other tests you can do for egr system tests

Chris
