Mirage Won't start

I have a 1997 Mirage that died on me while driving. I suspect it was out of gas, and refueled. It cranks over and will even sputter a bit, but will not catch to start.

If your car was ran out of gas then the fuel pump is probably gone. Check for fuel pressure at the fuel rail. Maybe your car jumped time. Put finger over #1 cylinder and crank engine slowly untill you feel a short burst of air and a little bit of suction then see if rotor in distributor is poined at #1 spark plug. If not it jumped time.
