Hood Release handle not engaging at all - therefore hood won't pop to allow opening. Two part question:

1. For repair, best to take to dealer (high labor costs though) or can local repair shop fix it?

2. Is there a way to manually release the hood until I get it fixed?

This is not addressed in the owners manual at all. Sure would appreciate your help on this.

Sounds like the cable is binding or broken, yes a local shop can repair it,
if you lay on your back and look above you infront of the radiator you should see the latch, if you can see it look for the cable and give it a yank if that doesnt work you may have to reach up and hit the latch to open
