2001 Other Mitsubishi Models Front Wheel Drive Manual 66000 miles

Hi, I have a Mitsubushi Carisma and since I left my lights on overnight the battery went dead flat. I charged it back up and it was giving 13.5V, re-connected it, started it back up but if I don't rev the accelerator it just dies again. Also, if I put my foot right to the floor I am only getting about 2000 revs.

Don't know if this is related, but I took it to a garage a few weeks ago because the accelerator was sticking, i.E. When I came to a stop it would be revving high, and I would have to put my foot behind the pedal and pull it back. Since they cleaned the accelerator housing out it has been much better, but I have notices a slight juddery sensation every now and then, especially when not applying any gas.

Any help greatly appreciated.

Hi Dazbro,

Thank you for the donation.

After disconnectiing battery, data stored in the ECM is lost and it needs to relearn to function normally.

Start vehicle and allow to idle till radiator fans comes on at least 2 times with all electrical components OFF.

Turn on AC and let it idle for another 5 mins. Relearn should be complete for idling.

Drive vehicle around to complete the relearn process.

If the above fails, disconnect battery for at least 20 mins and repeat the above process.

If idling is still irregular, you need to check the Idle Solenoid Control Valve for fault.
