1997 Other Mitsubishi Models car loses all power while drivi

I believe this could be the alternator.

While I'm driving the check engine light comes on and then I lose all power. I am able to restart it. I was able to get it home but it started doing it more frequently.

I had the same problem. I replaced my alternator and it seemed to work. But it ended up just being my attachments to my battery were lose and old and eroded. So I replaced those and it only cost like $4. To replace the alternator myself only cost $200. Which is a hell of a lot cheaper than bringing it to a shop.
