I recently took my car to get an oil change (rutin)I had always requested 10w-40 to be put in the car, the car was at the shop for one day for brakes etc. They (shop) put 30w grade in the car. After driving the car for a few days I notice grease film on back window and car using more oil than usual, now the car does not leak and has always used up oil. I did not call the shop because I know for a fact that they will tell me that 30w oil is the manufacturer recomended oil. My question is do I continue using 40w or is safe to go 20w50 due to the milage of the car?

Hi there,

I would go to the 20W-50, I use this in many older & high mileage cars with out any problems, If you do experience any issues with this oil, re post for further advice.
