I have a 98 v6 Montero Sport. My wife drove the car without oil and now the car makes an incredible noise in the motor and overheats (but it still drivable). Does the engine go totally bad? Or I can replace few parts and it will be fine again? If so, what parts are more likely to be damaged?

Thanks,
Luc

Hi Luc,

If the noise is from the engine lower part and increases in level, you need to replace the con-rod and bearings and grind the crankshaft. It is driveable now, but will jam up anytime. I would not drive it to prevent more damage.
