2001 Mitsubishi Montero over heating smells like burnt oil

I had a problem with my 2001 Mitsubishi over heating and had the radiator flushed and cleaned. The temp. Gage does not go past ½ way but when I get out of the car it smells like the engine is hot and smells like burnt oil.

So it isn't overheating at this point?

OR still is?

Other than the burnt oil smell are there any other symptoms.

A shop can use a scanner to check the real engine temperature if it is in question or a heat gun can be used. We need to find out if there is a true overheat situation where the gauge is inaccurate or not.

Look in the area of the exhaust manifold to see if any seapages are found.

After the radiator was cleaned it has not over heated, and the water level in the reservoir has not dropped.
Before the radiator I had the thermostat, fan clutch, water pump all changed, and it still over heated so we took the radiator to a shop and had it cleaned. The car runs fine not sure what else it can be. Thanks BB

You need to verify the actual temp that the coolant temp sensor is telling the computer. IT may be telling it that the temp is good, when it isn't. You may be also able to ohm out the sensor versus a new one.

Check for codes in the computer and post them as well.
