My accelerator /throttle is stuck. I have no controll with the gas pedal. it runs at about 4000 rpm as soon as I start it. When I put it in gear it slowly increase speed up to about 60 mph and stays there. can not slow down or speed up with gas pedal. What could be wrong and how can I fix it?

Is the throttle linkage connected? if it is then it sounds like your throttle position sensor is shot. have it checked and replaced if necessary, is there an engine light on?

first thing to do is open up the or remove if you will the air cleaner hoses from the throttle body. look at the plates inside, are they wide open or closed with the engine started/ if they are closed then the cable isnt stuck, if its jammed open then its a issue wiht the cable.

does the pedal feel normal?

if all looks ok i would check out the TPS sensor.
