Electrical problem
1996 Mitsubishi Eclipse 4 cyl Front Wheel Drive Automatic

the coil pack fires on cylinders 2 & 3 but not on 1 & 4. Changed coil, same problem. Spliced wiresgoing into coil made 1 & 4 fire but not 2 & 3. I guess my question would be why would it only fire on 2 cylinders? I have tested the 3 wires going into the coil. There are 2 grounds and 1 hot the working side ground "pulsed" my finger when testing the other side shows power but no pulse. Please help.

Try checkng the crankshaft positioning sensor this is the one that tells the computer what coil to fire.

Thank you! Your advice was right on the money! Can you tell me how to become a part of this website? I have been a mechanic for over 20 years and would like to be able to give advice as well.
