I recently replaced the ecm and now my transmission is locked in the "safe mode." How do I remedy this? No problems with the trans prior to ecm replacement.

Hi mabramson,

Thank you for the donation.

First would be to get the trouble codes. For the trans to enter limp mode, some sensor or their wiring could be faulty.

Is the ECM replaced of the correect typew? Did you check the ECM part no?

I have checked the ECM. It is the correct one for the car and when checked for error codes, it reads functioning normally. Transmission is still in failsafe mode. How do I reset the trans so it will shift?

Disconnect the battery terminals.
Hold the 2 terminals together for a few seconds and reconect.
Restest to see if the problem is resolved.

If you had disconnected any wire couplers, recheck them for proper seating and looseness.
Recheck the ECM and TCM wire harness.
