2005 Mini Cooper check automatic transmission fluid
Transmission problem
2005 Mini Cooper 4 cyl Front Wheel Drive Automatic 61000 miles
How do you check the automatic transmission fluid and what type does it take. I don't see a dipstick for it or a place to add on the top of the engine. Couldn't find it in the owner's manual either

use MINI Automatic Transmission Fluid JWS 3309
you will want to have shop drain and refill because it is sealed unit and requires special pump to refill. to check it though, remove splash shield under engine, remove 3 bolts at bottom of front bumper cover. unlock splash shield mounting bolts. remove splash shield then use a 6 mm allen wrench to remove the fill/level check plug on tranny. some fluid will leak out if the tranny is full.
