My headlights and dash lights pulse. They don't go out completely. My battery light also comes on and goes off intermittently. There is no pattern. I can only assume it is the battery or alternator. I tested the battery and while the car runs it generates around 14 V which is right on. Is my alternator shot? Is there an easy fix, as if there was ever such a thing. I just don't want to go out to start my car and find it finally died.

Start by checking the tension on the drive belt. If the tension is too loose, you may experience the "flickers" that you described.

Also, you may want to bring your vehicle to an O'Reilly store and have them test your entire electrical system. Just to be sure that your alternator is not putting out too much, intermittently.
