The 4-wheel high and 4-wheel low dash lights are blinking off and on periodocally, and neither of the dash indicator lights will illuminate when I put the switch to either 4X4 high or 4X4 low.

THIS IS MY SECOND POSTING. I MADE A DONATION BUT HAVE NOT HAD MY QUESTION ANSWERED YET, SO I WILL MAKE ANOTHER DONATION, PLEASE GET BACK TO ME.

Well first let me say sorry no one has got to your question till now. Now I need to know a couple of things first. Do you have a digital multi meter if needed? Do you feel comfortable enough running a couple of test? What I need you to do first is call around to your local parts store and find one that will do a free scan. Have them scan you car and let me know what codes if any are found. They will be P. I am hoping that the cars computer has picked up what is going on to help point us to what we should check first otherwise we will just start with the switch and go from there. Let me know what you find and what you would like to do. Thanks

I went to a Checkers Auto and to an Auto Zone and they did a code scan and it came up "PASS". They said that the scan would only diagnose any "Check Engine" light on the instrument panel. I do not have the "Check Engine" light illuminated. Where do I go from here? One of the techs suggested that maybe the modulator on the rear of the transfer case could be the problem? Let me know what you think.

Ok thats fine. I was hoping that one of the modules would have picked up a problem. The engine light doesn't need to be on to set a code it just needs to see that there is a problem. So I need to know if you have a digital multi meter? Have you tryed to put the car in 4x4? If so did it lock in or not? Get back to me with what you know and we will take it from there. Thanks.

Hi, thanks for getting back to me. I have tried putting it into 4 wheel drive and it goes in, there is no indication light on the instrument panel though. I do have a analog multi meter that you asked about.

Ok good here is what needs to be done. Sense you don't have the means of having a scan done on the 4x4 system as it takes a different scanner then the parts stores use it will be with the multi meter. Now first you will need to locat the gem module and then you will need to unplug it and run the following test pic is included for the pin numbers. The GEM is just to the right (as sitting in car) of the instrument panel behind the dash.
First you will need to make a jumper wire or get a paper clip to make one. Unplug the GEM and put the jumper wire between ground and term 14 (gray wire) on the GEM connector (plug in) Turn key on engine off does the 4x4 HIGH indicator light up? If so then the GEM is no good and needs to be replaced. Get back to me with what you find.
