I recently bought the above car and haven't driven it around 800 miles and the service engine light was on. The most recent owner said the light was on when they bought it and had it serviced. Several days ago the light started blinking and the car started acting like it was going to fall apart. I drove it back home which fortunately was only a few miles. I haven't cranked it again. What could the problem be? It seemed like when the light went back solid the car seemed to be ok but when it started blinking again it wasn't ok.

Thanks for you help.

Blinking check engine light is a sign of misfiring
I would check it for tune up
check plugs and wires replace as needed
have it scanned for codes

Hello,

If you feel you can and it isn't too far take the vehicle by your local Auto Zone and have them pull codes for you they will do it for free.

Post codes here in forum.
